DOT Physicals

DOT Physicals Now Available at Greenwood Village

MedNOW is pleased to announce that we now offer DOT (Department of Transportation) physicals with Dr. Tracy at our Greenwood Village Clinic. This federally mandated exam ensures that commercial drivers meet the necessary health standards to operate safely on the road.

What to Expect During a DOT Physical:
• Vision Test: Drivers must have at least 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and be able to distinguish colors required for safe driving.
• Hearing Test: The ability to hear a forced whisper at 5 feet (with or without hearing aids) is required.
• Blood Pressure & Pulse Check: Monitors cardiovascular health to ensure it falls within safe limits.
• Urinalysis: Screens for underlying conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, or other potential health concerns.
• Comprehensive Physical Exam: Evaluates neurological, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and cardiovascular functions.
• Mental Health & Substance Use Screening: Assesses any conditions affecting a driver’s ability to operate a commercial vehicle safely.
• Cost: DOT Physical Exam $100, extra charges may apply for additional testing

Drivers who pass the exam receive a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), typically valid for up to 2 years. Some medical conditions may require additional testing or specialist clearance.

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of screening and prevention. Colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., but it is highly preventable when caught early. This cancer often starts as precancerous polyps in the colon or rectum, which can be detected and removed before becoming cancerous. Routine screenings are recommended for adults starting at age 45, or earlier with risk factors. Early detection can prevent or catch cancer at an effective stage. A colonoscopy is the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening. It’s a safe procedure where a gastroenterologist examines the colon and removes precancerous polyps, with patients asleep throughout. • How often? If negative, repeat every 10 years. • Referrals: Call our office for a referral without an appointment. If you're at low risk, you may qualify for Cologuard, an FDA-approved at-home screening option. • How it works: It checks a stool sample for blood and abnormal DNA. • How often? Every three years, if negative, a positive result requires a colonoscopy. • To request: Call our office, and we’ll help with the process. At MedNOW, we make colorectal cancer screening easy and accessible. Whether you choose a colonoscopy or an at-home test, screening is a vital step in protecting your health. If you have any questions or concerns, or to schedule your screening, call your MedNOW Clinic, or you can schedule an appointment online by clicking the following link: MedNOW Portal Together, we can take proactive steps to prevent colorectal cancer and ensure your continued well-being.
