MedNOW Clinics in Aurora has now placed 10 probuphine implants in patients.  Probuphine is a buprenorphine implant placed in a patient's arm which provides treatment for opiate use disorder and opiate addiction.  Patients are falling in love with the implant which lasts for six months or longer and takes away the need to take a daily medication.  While daily medication can be lost or forgotten, the implant is always there, providing the treatment that patients with opiate use disorder and opiate addiction need.  The procedure to place the implant is quick - it can be done at a 20 minute office visit, and relatively painless, using only a small amount of local anesthesia.
